Hi. Well you would also want to increase the textbox length. You can do this under Question Look and Feel, you should change the length of the field to maybe 300 or 400. I would then set the colspan maybe to even more than 2, like 4 or so.

Well I did expand the field length and I also tried playing around with the colspan (2,3,4,5) everytime I do this it just moves the input field father to the left. Example below:

Company                                             ___________________________
First Name ___________ Last Name  ________________

Instead of

Company _______________________________________
Fist Name _________________ Last Name ___________

Here is the URL... You can see email has moved over. Colspan 4 and field length 300.

Hi. Actually... In this case (somewhat confusing) but I think what would need to happen is you would need to set the colspan to only 1 for this field (still set the width to something longer like 300 or 400) but then set the colspan of other fields (so that it wouldn't be caught in the same width as the field with the largest width).

If you set something up on Beta Springs (www.betasprings.com, login as username host with a password of dnnhost) ill see if we can help you determine what settings are necessary.

Archie,

Hi. I looked into this more and it appears that the colspan property is really only getting set for the label column and not the field. Because of this the feature only works as you would want it if you choose to 'Display labels and fields on same column' either as a whole or on the specific field.

First... I think I told you wrong, the colspan property should be set on the longer field (in your demo the email field). The other fields should be set to 1. Please check out your test page as well, you will see that its not showing up better (closer at least). You can also see that this is what we are doing in the demonstration for layout features. The only fields that are using this feature to span across are also using the feature to display the field and label in the same column, you will notice that the fields above it are not using the feature.

So as a work around until we review this more you might have to do something like:

Company
______________________________________________

Fist Name _________________ Last Name ___________

We will review this further, I think we might have to apply the colspan property to a different table if this feature is not enabled (display in same column) or have two properties you can define, one for label and one for the question field.
